In 2008-2009, while I was conducting dissertation fieldwork in Crimea, I kept a blog called “My Simferopol Home.” It was a way to stay in touch with friends and family from afar, to catalog my experiences and impressions, and also to work out some of the germinal concepts of my doctoral dissertation.
